S Stock
The S stock, to be built by Bombardier, will replace the A stock on the Metropolitan
line; the C stock on the Circle, Hammersmith & City and District lines; and the
D stock on the District line. They will be 8 cars long on the Metropolitan line and
7 cars long on the other lines, with introduction expected from around 2010 -
the last train entering service in 2014. The A stock, as the oldest (dates from
the very early 1960’s) will be replaced first, followed by the C stock, then finally
the D stock.
