D  STOCK

D Stock
The D stock was built between 1980 and 1983, and is known as the D78 stock. It
replaced a mix of CO, CP and R stock dating as far back as 1947. There are 130
‘single ended’ units (DM-trailer-UNDM) and 20 ‘double ended’ units (DM-trailer-
DM). A standard six car train is formed of two three car units. The D stock provides
the main district line service between Upminster and Ealing Broadway, Richmond
& Wimbledon - as well as the High Street Kensington to Olympia shuttle. The D
stock is currently being refurbished by Bombardier at it’s plant in Derby - this
being the first major refurbishment of this stock. For more information, visit
tubeprunes site.
